Pitch Maintenance

GRASS CUTTING
Regular grass cutting is essential to maintain a high quality sports pitch. Mowing should take place as often as necessary to keep a well presented healthy grass sward.

This is easily achieved through our tailored maintenance schedules.

AERATION
Verti-draining and spiking helps alleviate water logging and deep aerates the ground which promotes healthy growth and therefore sustaining a good play surface.

Verti-draining decompacts soil by making equally spaced holes in the turf allowing water, air and nutrients through to the grass roots.

Spiking creates vertical slits in the ground which also allow the transfer of water, air and nutrients through to the root system and is a good interim process between vertical-draining operations.
FERTILISER PROGRAMMES
Fertiliser application encourages healthy growth of both the sward and the root system.
In turn this aids recovery after heavy play.

We can tailor our fertiliser programmes to meet your needs and budget.
SPRAYING PROGRAMMES
Regular spraying helps natural pitches remain weed, pest and disease free and in the best possible playing condition.
weed control
SELECTIVE WEED CONTROL
This is the control of the broad leaved weeds in the grass sward, eg Clover, Daisy, Buttercup, etc.

TOTAL WEED CONTROL
This is the control of grass and weeds on pitch perimeters, hard surfaces and planted areas.
PEST AND DISEASE CONTROL
Many of these problems can be kept to a minimum by keeping a well maintained and healthy grass sward by completing other maintenance operations on a regular basis.

However if any pests or diseases do occur we can help you to deal with the issue keeping environmental impact and budget in mind.
Moss Control
Moss growth is accelerated during wet weather periods and more commonly found on sand based pitches and grows more densely in the areas that receive less play.

Spraying to burn moss helps prevent it spreading when a moss problem already exists but preventative measures such as:
1) Correct soil pH levels
2) regular aeration operations

ensure that water drains away from the surface as quickly as possible help prevent moss growth.
