Turf Renovation

SCARIFYING (VERTI-CUTTING)
Scarifying removes unwanted surface material such as thatch, dead grass, moss and also cuts through the surface rooting grasses keeping the sward dense and reducing surface water retention.

The process is carried out using a mechanical rake with blades which make vertical cuts into the turf surface.

This process should be carried out at least once every year and is often the first phase of pitch renovation and is carried out during the spring or autumn season while the grass is actively growing to reduce time.

TOP DRESSING
Top dressing is the application of a uniform layer of sports pitch approved sand over the turf surface.  It is used to level the playing surface and remove minor variations and depressions and to create a better growing environment for the turf.

This operation is carried out while the grass is actively growing and should be included in routine maintenance schedules at least once a year.
OVER-SEEDING
Over-seeding is the application of seed to an existing sward to improve turf density.  It is important to use Sportsfield Grade mix and best results are achieved when this operation is carried out with top dressing.
GOAL MOUTH REPAIRS
Goal mouths are commonly worn out due to the nature of play.

We can renew these by using a range of methods from re-seeding to re-turfing which require a rest period from play to establish or a longer lasting alternative of 4G synthetic turf which can be used immediately after installation.
